Description

We spend a lot of time, effort, and resources struggling to see and understand others. We tend to see the outside and rarely see their content. How different would it be if our eyes could see into the soul? We invite you to join us as we use music, dance, and poetry to explore this important question.

Join us on Saturday, March 11 at 7 PM for the “Uplifting Voices of Unity” event, dedicated to creating an inspiring, fun, and educational experience to foster unity between people with different life experiences. The concept of combining different art forms created by people from different backgrounds and ancestry is an expression of how all of us contribute to the colorful, diverse, and robust American culture of which we are all a part. Complimentary wine, beer, and appetizers are provided.

This multi-disciplinary program with music, dance, and stories inspired by a variety of cultural and artistic influences, such as bluegrass, klezmer, jazz, classical, and new music. Our professional percussion, string, and clarinet/saxophone musicians will weave the program through the spoken words by professional writer/poet Lawrence Diggs, as well as the choreography by Angelina Gibson.

FUN things on the show

  • Djembe, a rope-tuned skin-covered goblet drum played with bare hands, originally from West Africa.

  • Jazz viola, which is not a joke.

  • Immersive experience with spoken words creatively interwoven with music and dance.

  • Amazing appetizers and beer/wine designed to go with the program.

  • Anybody in the audience who wants to learn some handdrum or dance steps might get a chance to do so.

Our Facebook Page

Description:

In honor of Back History Month and Valentines Day, “Love Conquers All” will tell the stories of people who, despite cultural and legal objections to sharing their love with those they love because of racism, overcame those obstacles and went on to share their love and make contributions to society. We will celebrate some of the children of the couples who crossed forbidden lines of “race mixing” to make contributions to society in science and culture.

This mixed media performance will introduce music and dance from cultures around the world to tell stories of the triumphs of love over adversity and racism. Our professional string quartet musicians, pianist, and a saxophonist will collaborate with a poet and modern dancers to tell these stories. It will be a feast to the ears, eyes, and heart.

The mission of our “Uplifting Voices of Unity” tour is to create an inspiring, peaceful, fun, and educational experience to foster unity. The concept of combining different art forms created by people from different backgrounds and ancestry is an expression of how all of us contribute to the colorful, diverse, and robust American culture of which we are all a part.
